By now we all know that I really love a good deal.  Today’s website, cardnap.com, is a great way to save anywhere from 20% to 50% on gift cards.

“What does this have to do with hunting?”, you might ask.  Well hunting and camping stores have gift cards too!  I found gift cards for Cabela’s, Coleman, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sports Authority.  All of them were either 20% or 25% off their face value.

Of course you can buy all sorts of gift cards at cardnap.  As a matter of fact, if you have a gift card you want to get rid of, you can sell it to cardnap.  So as people sell and buy gift cards, the inventory constantly changes so you’ll want to keep checking back for new cards.

Happy Hunting (and shopping)!

Duck DecoysSometimes when I buy hunting gear I want the best.  That usually means a quality name brand that is known, rated well, and I know I can trust.  Other times, name brands just mean more money and that’s all.  I shop at Cabela’s a lot because of the selection and the brands.  But what’s my second favorite place to shop for hunting gear?  It’s a place where I know I will get a great deal and won’t spend very much.  It’s Walmart.

I have found some absolutely amazing deals on hunting supplies at WalMart.  After hunting season, I bought a treestand that normally sells for $179 for $49.  It was such a great deal I bought 2 of them.  Some of my favorite hunting t-shirts come from Walmart.

Here’s the deal.  Walmart has great prices every day.  The $179 treestand I bought is normally $99 there.  That’s a great deal to start with.  And then when they mark it down after the season… well that’s just a steal!  You can shop at Walmart online and you can see their deals, called “rollbacks”.  Shop by category, camo pattern or species you want to hunt.  They have a great selection at great prices.

I normally go out and start buying hunting gear just before hunting season rolls around.  That happens to be when I start thinking about it and it’s also when the products are in stores and are also on prominent display.  That’s a good time to buy hunting gear since it’s all right in front of you and you have lots to choose from.  But if you want to save some money, buying right before season might not be the best time to buy.

Buying products in the off-season is a great way to save money.   Products are seriously discounted so that they will move out to make room for products that are in-season.

Example: I just bought a 15′  2-man ladder treestand that normally sells for at least $179 for only $49!  Actually… it was such a great deal, I bought two of them.  The first response from several people was that I would then have to buy harnesses for it and they could cost $99 each.  Nope!  It came with 2 harnesses!  I’ve already put one together and it seems to be a pretty descent stand.  After next hunting season, I’ll have to do an update on how I liked hunting in it and how it’s holding up.

Anyway… This is a great example of the deals you can get when you simply buy off-season.  The dangerous part is…. now I’m excited to see what other great deals I can find now for next hunting season.  Don’t tell my husband!

Happy Hunting!
